A Forwarding account is where you can point a Domain Name at some un-used space in your web account or point the Domain Name to any URL you want. It also comes with it's own pop3 account and an email default catchall for your Domain name. There is also URL masking to make it seem like your URL for the site.

The forwarding account is also good for parking a Domain Name for email use only as you do not have to display a web site to use your Domain Name for emails.
